Health IT Strategic Planning
On November 10, 2011, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) published a final version of the Federal Health IT Strategic Plan 2011 – 2015. This plan reflects a coordinated strategy between the public and private sector to improve the quality, efficiency, safety and patient-centeredness of health care.

ONC updates the plan by working with public and private sector stakeholders and seeking input from public comments. Collaboration among the public and private sectors will continue to be the most important tool in keeping this plan relevant and reflective of the health information technology market.
The Federal Health IT Strategic Plan aims to improve health and health care for all Americans through the use of information and technology. The government works to implement the plan in accordance with Federal Health IT Principles:

- Encourage innovation.
