Shipping and Handling Information

Estimate the Arrival Date of Your Order

From the time you place your order, it normally takes 2–3 business days to process and assemble it. Please add to this time frame the shipping days shown by your choice of shipping method. If you live in an area that is experiencing hazardous weather or another type of emergency, please allow an additional 1–2 days to the estimated arrival date for your order. The Fulfillment Center is closed weekends and federal holidays.

Shipping and Handling Charges

Shipping charges apply to each delivery address and vary based on package weight and delivery location.  Please note that our shipping fees include costs from order processing.

Domestic Shipping (within the United States and Puerto Rico)

All delivery is by FedEx.

FedEx does not deliver to P.O. boxes, APO, or FPO addresses.

You may choose one of the following two options:

  • FedEx Express Saver (delivery by 7:00 p.m., 3rd business day)
  • FedEx Priority (delivery by 12:00 noon, 2nd business day)

International Shipping (all countries served by FedEx, including Canada and U.S. territories other than Puerto Rico)

All delivery is by FedEx International. FedEx does not ship to international P.O. boxes.

The recipient is responsible for all customs, duties, and taxes on international shipments.  The National Gallery of Art has no control over these fees. They are levied by the destination country at the time of entry and must be paid by the recipient in the currency stated on the invoice. Please contact your local customs office for specific information.

Please allow up to 14 days for delivery.

Residential Delivery Signature Options

All packages are shipped “No Signature Required.”  This means that packages may be left at the door without obtaining a signature for delivery.  If you want to require a signature, please indicate this requirement in the Special Ordering Instructions or Comments box during checkout.

If a signature is required, FedEx will make three attempts to deliver a package.  If no one is present to accept the delivery after three attempts, the package will be returned to the National Gallery of Art.  In this case, you will be notified of the return.  At the time of notification, you may elect to pay for additional shipping to resend the package, or you may elect to receive a refund on the order. Because the National Gallery of Art has been charged by FedEx for an attempted delivery, the shipping fee will not be refunded.

Track the Shipment of Your Order

Once your order has left our Fulfillment Center, the FedEx tracking number will be e-mailed to you.
