Decimalization

The 2012 Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act required the SEC to study the effects of decimalization on initial public offerings (IPOs) and small and middle capitalization companies. The resulting staff report recommended soliciting the views of investors, companies, and market professionals.

In December 2012, the SEC announced a roundtable on the broad topic of decimalization, how to best study its effects on IPOs, trading, and liquidity for small and middle capitalization companies, and what, if any, changes should be considered.

Decimalization Roundtable

The roundtable will take place in Washington D.C. on February 5, 2013.

At the event, three panels will discuss various impacts of decimalization and tick sizes on the securities markets. The SEC welcomes feedback regarding the topics to be addressed at the roundtable. Information that is submitted will become public record.
