FLEET RATING IDENTIFICATION ENGINE (FLEET RIDE) FOR SELECTED RESERVE (SELRES) ROLLOUT

The Navy Reserve is rolling out the FleetRIDE system for SELRES Sailors. FleetRIDE is not the same as Perform-to-Serve (PTS).  FleetRIDE is an information technology (IT) system used to screen Sailors for rating qualification. It is a web-enabled career counseling support tool that screens and guides the right sailors to the right jobs and assists Career Counselors, Enlisted Community Managers (ECMs) and Sailors with reclassification and career guidance by providing the best match of a Sailor’s qualifications and interests to meet navy requirements for rating assignment/conversions.  FleetRIDE allows authorized users to view and update all Sailor attribute data and rating eligibility criteria, and qualify the Sailor to view eligibility for any and all ratings.

FleetRIDE is populated with the most current SELRES Career Reenlistment Objective (CREO) rating manning information and rating qualification standards. This information will allow Career Counselors and Sailors to quickly identify other career opportunities available for non-designated Sailors or Sailors in overmanned ratings.

PTS is a module within FleetRIDE currently only used in AC and FTS communities to centrally control reenlistment authority.

The FleetRIDE for SELRES rollout does not subject SELRES Sailors to PTS.

The FleetRIDE for SELRES rollout schedule is as follows(Percentage qualified as of 16 October 2012):

a. April 2012:  RCC Southeast (83.7%)
b. May 2012:  RCC Mid Atlantic (76.5%)
c. June 2012:  NAF Washington (77.1%)
d. July 2012:  RCC Midwest (95.5%)
e. August 2012:  Squadrons/SEALS (83.3%)
f. September 2012:  RCC Southwest (86.9%)
g. September 2012:  RCC Northwest (98.0%)

All NOSC and Unit Career Counselors responsible for Training Unit Identification Codes (TRUICs) shall request a FleetRIDE account by submitting a system authorization access request (SAAR ) addendum form (NAVPERS 5239/8 (06-2012) to fleetride_help_desk@navy.mil or Mr. Paul Martin at paul.d.martin.ctr@navy.mil.  All Career Counselors should have a FleetRIDE account within 60 days of system rollout for their TRUIC(s).

All SELRES Sailors E6 and below will be populated in the FleetRIDE for SELRES database.  During rollout, Career Counselors shall review FleetRIDE data with their Sailors to ensure no data is missing. It is highly recommended that every Sailor review their Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) at https://www.bol.navy.mil/.  Documentation for any missing FleetRIDE data should be provided to the Unit Career Counselor, keeping in mind that the primary and most important data are ASVAB scores.

All E6 and below SELRES Sailors are required to be qualified within FleetRIDE to enhance conversion opportunities. Sailors who received a SELRES quota via PTS are not exempt from FleetRIDE for SELRES qualification. All Sailor information from the Sailor details page will migrate from AC FleetRIDE to FleetRIDE for SELRES, but Sailors must verify data migration with their Career Counselors. Sailors are not required to qualify in FleetRIDE as a prerequisite to go on an Individual Augmentation, active duty for special work, or mobilization/recall.

Any Sailors who qualify for a new rating in FleetRIDE may submit a conversion package for the desired rating to PERS-8 IAW MILPERSMAN 1440-010. A printed copy of the Sailor qualified jobs listing obtained from FleetRIDE must be included in the package. Sailors should review MILPERSMAN 1306-618 for line score waiver information.

Frequently Asked Questions regarding FleetRIDE for SELRES are posted on the NAVPERSCOM website: http://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/career/careercounseling/documents/selres%20fleet%20ride%20faqs.pdf. Additional assistance can be obtained from the FleetRIDE helpdesk at 901-874-2102 (DSN 882) or via email at fleetride_help_desk@navy.mil.

Career Development Boards (CDBs) are critical at this time and all Career Counselors are urged to engage Sailors and complete these boards.  FleetRIDE allows Career Counselors to communicate more career information in less time, making CDBs more efficient. There is no time like the present to help sailors make positive career moves and convert into undermanned ratings for which they are most qualified, ultimately helping them advance and stay navy!
