The Continuous Quality Immunization Improvement Process (CQIIP) is an adaptation
of the March 2000,
Quality Standards and Guidance for Program Evaluation in Adult Immunization Programs
in Non-traditional Settings, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC). The Department of Defense (DoD) adopted these standards and incorporated
them within the Joint Instruction on Immunization and Chemoprophylaxis (AR 40-562, BUMEDINST 6230.15A, AFJI 48-110, CG COMDTINST M6230.4F)
as the eight Standards for Military Immunizations. The standards are located in
Appendix B
of the Joint Instruction.
The Military Vaccine (MILVAX) Agency further developed the immunization guidance
and created a user-friendly tool to assist facilities in assessing their compliance
with the immunization standards, ensuring that they use the best clinical practices
when administering vaccines.
The tool asks questions about each of the eight standards to help identify areas
of improvement and provide the healthcare personnel with a quick evaluation of their
immunization administration processes. The CQIIP tool is the first step in the CQIIP
process.
The CQIIP tool may also be used by the Services as a quality improvement mechanism
to ensure immunizations are administered in accordance with DoD policies and the
CDC's General Recommendations on Immunizations: Recommendations of the Advisory
Committee on Immunizations Practice (ACIP).

This 2-Stage tool is to be used to assist immunization operations in meeting compliance
with the standards for military immunization IAW the Department of Defense (DoD)
Joint Instruction (AR 40-562, BUMEDINST 6230.15A, AFJI 48-110, CG COMDTINST M6230.4F)
and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) General Recommendations
on Immunizations. Please note this tool is not intended to be used for inspection
purposes.
This product will provide immunization personnel with a quality control tool to
assess the immunization process and ensure compliance with the eight Standards for
Military Immunizations as outlined in the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Instruction
and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Immunization Recommendations
