The American Center oversees “American Corner” mini-libraries in Chittagong, Sylhet and Jessore.  American Corner Sylhet opened in January 2004 at Sylhet International University. The American Corner provides basic reference materials on the United States, Internet terminals, video viewing facilities, and English-language tapes, as well as a growing section of guidebooks for students wanting to study at American universities.

American Corners are information resource and outreach centers of the American Center of the U.S. Embassy. Books, journals, magazines, video and CD-ROMs with a focus on various aspects of the United States are available for anybody who visits. The American Corner at Sylhet International University- the second in Bangladesh- was inaugurated on January 15, 2004. The people of Sylhet are encouraged to visit the American Corner and sign up for its services.
