  • Security Message to U.S. citizens (27-October-2012)

    The Indonesia National Police (INP) on October 26-27, 2012, arrested a number of terrorist suspects who allegedly were plotting against U.S. Mission facilities and other targets. We have been in close touch with the police, and welcome their quick action to counter this threat. We recommend that American citizens in Indonesia maintain security situational awareness. As always, we advise American citizens to avoid large crowds and other gatherings that might turn violent. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully and provide further updates, if needed. 

  • Warden Message Surabaya September 27, 2012

    The U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya received information that certain groups are planning to hold demonstrations on Thursday, September 27, at 1:00 p.m. local time. The expected route for the demonstration tomorrow in Surabaya will start at the Governor’s Office and the French Institute in central Surabaya, proceed via Jalan Adityawarman, Jalan Mayjend Sungkkono, Jalan HR Mohammad, Pakuwon, first entrance gate of Citraland and then to the Consulate. The U.S. Consulate General advises all U.S. citizens to avoid large crowds and other gatherings. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates, if needed. 

  • SECURITY MESSAGE TO U.S. CITIZENS: DEMONSTRATION UPDATE (September 20, 2012)

    We have received information that certain groups that plan to hold demonstrations tomorrow have also called on their members to focus on U.S. brand businesses, especially well-known fast food franchises in East Java and Lombok. We have also learned that the expected route for the demonstration in Surabaya tomorrow is starting at Surabaya Zoo going to Jalan May. Jend. Sungkono to Jalan H R Mohammad and past Supermal going to the Consulate.
