Washington, D.C.—Today, U.S Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) released the following statement on Walla Walla Community College being named one of the top five community colleges in the nation and being awarded $100,000 by the nonprofit Aspen Institute.

“I want to join in congratulating Walla Walla Community College on being named one of the nation’s top community colleges. This award is a testament to the fantastic leadership of President Steve VanAusdle, the hard work of the entire faculty and staff, and the strong partnerships Walla Walla has made with local businesses and organizations.

“Walla Walla is doing some of the most innovative work in the nation when it comes to connecting workers to local jobs and careers and tailoring their degree offering to meet the needs of the local economy.  This is a model that works, and the Aspen Institute was absolutely correct to highlight these efforts as a model for the rest of the country.”
