Goal 6: Green Purchasing (Sustainable Acquisitions) 

Goals for greening contracts will support Departmental goals for compliance with federal regulations and Executive Orders, improve the environment, facilitate and
steer vendors in the direction of selling green products, and develop easy to use purchasing procedures which clearly delineate whether products actually meet environmental requirements. NIH will utilize the HHS Affirmative Procurement Plan (APP) to guide with the implementation owf these goals.
 
 
90% in FY10 and 95% in FY11
 
95% of New Contract Actions will meet Sustainable Acquisition Requirements by 2020.
 
95% of New Contract Actions will mandate Water Efficient Products, Biobased Products, Recycled Content Products, Environmentally Preferable Products/Services, SNAP/non-ozone depleting substances by 2020.​
