Resurfacing Project Begins in May
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) begins resurfacing work on less than one-mile of MD 355 between First Street and Templeton Place in Rockville. Weather permitting, work should be complete early June.
Crews will begin patching work in early May. Other work includes removing and replacing the existing pavement and installing new roadway markings within the project limits.
SHA will close one lane with flaggers Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., double lane closures overnight Monday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
SHA awarded the contract to F.O. Day Co., Inc. SHA will provide variable message signs, jersey barrier wall, drums, and arrow boards to guide motorists through the work zone.
Work Zone Safety
SHA advises motorists to plan for extra driving time traveling through the construction zone on MD 355 and reminds motorists to buckle up, stay alert for lane closures. SHA constructs work zones to be as safe as possible, motorists also have an important role to play in reducing work zone-related crashes and saving lives. Here are some suggestions to guide motorists safely through work zones:
