Requiring vets to give written scripts to all clients, requested or not, would increase the staff and paperwork for veterinary offices and therefore increase the cost of veterinary services. I have fought with "pharmacies" that sold perscription drugs with no perscription and substituted products without my consent. Some of these perscriptions were clearly counterfit. The "pharmacies" often give out ignorant and dangerous advice. I have no problem with writing a perscription if asked. Requiring that we take on this extra burden to the benefit of large pharmacies whose first interest is profit and not the best interest of the animals is going to have repercussions.
