I have three points to make: 1. If veterinarians lose all of their pharmacy business, prices of services will have to go up. Veterinary care will become unaffordable for low and middle class pet owners, especially in large cities. 2. Most of us already write prescriptions, for free, for anything we know is on the free list or $4 list at the local pharmacy. My clients have no problem asking for a prescription to be written and one will be given. 3. The only way to ensure safety of pets if human pharmacies start to dispense pet medications regularly is to force pharmacies to employ at least one veterinarian at each facility.
