MHS Social Media Hub

Social Media

Welcome to the Military Health System’s Social Media Hub, the central place where service members, families and staff can find virtual connection points to all the moving pieces and parts that make up the MHS.

As we move toward a more transparent, collaborative and participatory Military Health System, we look forward to engaging in dialogue about the military health issues that matter to you. Start a discussion on Facebook, comment on the MHS Blog, view our photos on flickr or follow military health news and events on Twitter. Get involved as much or as little as you’d like.

Protect yourself and each other

  • What you publish online is widely accessible and could potentially remain there forever
  • Recognize that while third party social communities work to protect users from malicious attacks, any web site can be breached
  • Always be wary of incoming messages and links that may appear harmless – they could be a virus
  • Remember Operations Security applies when engaging online
  • If you frequently participate in multiple social communities, look at your accounts to see if an outside party can connect the dots to identify who and where you are and what you are doing
  • Avoid using your full name when possible; it’s okay to use aliases
  • Don’t disclose personal information (e.g., name, social security, date of birth, address) to individuals you don’t know. The MHS will never attempt to solicit this type of information on third party social networks
  • When commenting on blogs, avoid using your real name but understand your IP address can be tracked
