Arctic Sea Ice Rapidly Melting

As 2010 reaches its first day of summer (for the Northern Hemisphere), the extent of sea ice in the Arctic has reached an abnormally low extent. Data from NOAA's POES, GOES, and the U.S. Air Force DMSP satellites shows the current extent of sea ice in the Arctic. The red line shows the average extent of sea ice for June 21st. Current Arctic sea ice extents are even lower than the record low year of 2007.
