Typhoon Ma-On Takes Aim at Japan

Typhoon Ma-On, though somewhat weakened over the last 24 hours, is still on course to make landfall in southern Japan. Maximum wind speeds are at 98 mph (158 kph), the equivalent of a Category 2 hurricane in the U.S. The storm is shown here in a MTSAT visible satellite image taken on July 18, 2011 at 0630z.
