Navy Reserve Science and Technology Program

The Navy Reserve Science and Technology Program, also known as Navy Reserve Program 38 (P-38), leverages Naval Reserve capabilities to assist the Office of Naval Research and Naval Research Laboratory in developing science and technology solutions for the warfighter.

Many reservists within the program combine an exceptional degree of operational and technical expertise across a range of focus areas. With geographical locations spanning the country, P-38 reservists extend the Navy’s scientific outreach and can provide surge capacity when manpower with technical and/or operational skills is needed for a limited period.

ONR Global

Beyond U.S. borders, the Naval Research Science Advisor Program supports ONR Global in its mission to establish and maintain liaison with the international scientific research and development communities.

Currently, 26 Naval Research Science Advisors are deployed around the world to play a pivotal role in communicating science and technology requests to the Naval Research Enterprise and the emergence of technological products to the Fleet/Force.

These highly experienced senior engineers and scientists – competitively selected from the Naval Research Laboratory, warfare centers and other areas of the Naval Research Enterprise (NRE) – serve on two- or three-year tours with major fleet and command staffs. Each Naval Research Science Advisor reports directly to the Flag or General officer.

TechSolutions

Reservists also support TechSolutions, the innovative business process which solicits direct inputs from all Fleet/Force personnel to explore near-term technologies.
