Logistics Management Specialist

RECRUITMENT ONLY

 

PURPOSE: Performs multiple tasks including the functions of the shipping/receiving, warehouse clerk duties, and administrative operations. Includes preparation of all documentation for shipping and receiving activities. Responds to incoming requests concerning traffic, shipping, and receiving concerns. Assists Manager with preparation of material shipments and verification of all regulatory standards for inbound or outbound shipments. Serves as liaison with client and management by adjusting and maintaining documentation concerning receipts and returns of all forensic material and related items.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Serves as primary receiving and shipping staff member for a work group or groups. Coordinates requests for movement of forensic material. Tracks and logs all data pertaining to the movement of material, supplies or other items from different locations.

 
  • Provides proper packaging and paperwork for all outbound shipments including compliance with all applicable export regulations. Logs the daily shipping activities into department database/record system. Ensures that all property is properly processed, stored, or shipped according to internal policies.

 
  • Serves as the data input specialist for the receiving system to accurately account for inbound materials and equipment. Produces shipping and receiving reports and makes appropriate daily distribution of paperwork when necessary.

 
  • Serves as liaison with client for resolution of all discrepancies concerning items received or shipped. Documents any issues related to shipment within the appropriate system. Follows through to close any unresolved issue regarding material.

 
  • Serves as backup truck driver for distribution of forensic material and related items and supplies.

 
  • Assists in controlling warehouse operations including storage and accessibility to evidence; and, in managing inventories of supplies, including chemicals used for examinations, and other items used by the laboratory.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or equivalent and one to two years job-related experience required. For three of the five (5) years immediately prior to applying for the specific contract position, the individual must have 1) resided in the United States; 2) worked for the United States overseas in a Federal or military capability; or 3) be a dependent of a Federal or military employee serving overseas. These individuals must, however, be United States citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens. Must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks in loading and storing explosives, evidence, and related forensic materials, which are contained in storage containers, on pallets, or in heavy containers. Work occasionally requires long periods of standing and walking with periods of stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. The incumbent is subject to noise and fumes from test operations. Exposure also includes the possibility of explosions or burning items which are experimental, defective, or operating at the limits of their capability. Protective clothing, such as specially treated coveralls, safety shoes, and safety glasses are worn at various times. Must have general shipping, receiving and warehouse operations knowledge and skills. General administrative ability for processing, receiving, tracking and logging shipments preferred. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) essential. An active or reinstatable TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance is required for this position
