The third annual Youth Development Conference invites youth ages 17 to 25 to spend four days learning how to be active citizens in their communities. The conference will be run by 12 Peace Corps Volunteers who will each bring two youth counterparts from their communities for a total of 24 youth. Conference sessions encourage youth to become active participants in civil society and a driving force for change.

The first day will focus on gender roles and norms through sessions talking about community needs assessment and identifying male and female leaders in the community. The second day will include sessions on professionalism, community resources, and community mobilization with a focus on HIV/AIDS. The third day will allow the participants a chance to have hands-on experience working with one of three community organizations. Day four, participants will hear from three of last year's conference participants and will get a chance to design their own project for their communities.

At the end of the conference participants will be able to better understand and address needs in their community with the help of community leaders. Participants will also be better able to find resources and connect with other community based organizations to aid their communities.
