On September 5, Deputy Chief of Mission Elisabeth Millard and U.S. Regional Commercial Attaché Robyn Kessler visited the American Corner in Almaty to talk about the benefits of international trade in the 21st Century and the U.S. Commercial  Service's mission and priorities in Central Asia.  Several dozen people attended the talk, including students and faculty from Al-Farabi Kazakh National and KIMEP Universities.  Participants asked DCM Millard and Ms. Kessler questions about the WTO’s influence on Kazakhstan, the challenges and benefits of globalization, various means of promoting trade internationally and if American businesses can finance students’ start-ups, among other topics.  The exchange was upbeat and positive and the informal Q&A session lasted approximately one hour.
