About

NGC is an initiative of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) External Web Site Policy, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. NGC was originally created by AHRQ in partnership with the American Medical Association and the American Association of Health Plans (now America's Health Insurance Plans [AHIP]).

The NGC mission is to provide physicians and other health professionals, health care providers, health plans, integrated delivery systems, purchasers, and others an accessible mechanism for obtaining objective, detailed information on clinical practice guidelines and to further their dissemination, implementation, and use.

NGC/NQMC Editorial Board
The NGC/NQMC Editorial Board is composed of health care professionals with collective expertise in clinical practice guidelines and quality measures.
NGC/NQMC Expert Panel
The NGC/NQMC Expert Panel is composed of health care professionals with collective expertise in evidence-based health, clinical practice guidelines, quality measurement and reporting, health care policy and administration, and health informatics.

Guideline Summaries

NGC provides structured, standardized summaries containing information derived from guidelines using the NGC Template of Guideline Attributes.
Inclusion Criteria
Guidelines must meet the NGC Inclusion Criteria to be included on the NGC site.
Template of Guideline Attributes
The NGC Template of Guideline Attributes is the primary tool used to create guideline summary content.
Glossary
The NGC Glossary provides clarifying definitions and examples of terms used to describe common properties of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines used in the NGC structured summaries.
Classification Scheme
NGC uses controlled vocabulary concepts to classify various guideline attributes represented in the NGC guideline summary and to facilitate searching and information retrieval.
Content Development
NGC uses a range of methods to identify and collect guidelines for consideration against the inclusion criteria.
