How often should you get tested?

The first step to protect your health and the health of your partners is to make sure you know your HIV status. Getting an HIV test is the only way to know for sure if you are positive or negative. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that gay and bisexual men get tested at least once a year,[1] and a recent CDC publication suggests that sexually active gay and bisexual men might benefit from even more frequent testing, like every 3-6 months.[2] For more information on HIV testing, check out CDC’s recent statement about HIV testing for gay and bisexual men.
