SERGEANT AUDIE MURPHY CLUB

INTRODUCTION TO THE SMDC SERGEANT AUDIE MURPHY CLUB

SERGEANT AUDIE MURPHY CLUB LogoThe U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Commanding General, LTG Joseph M. Cosumano and the SMDC Command Sergeant Major, CSM Wilbur Adams, both felt that SMDC should have the same programs and recognition devices as other Army Major Commands. One such program was the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club (SAMC). CSM Adams implemented the instructions of LTG Cosumano, and the SMDC Sergeant Audie Murphy Club was organized.

Induction and membership in the SMDC SAMC is a reward for noncommissioned officers whose leadership achievements and performance merit special recognition and who have contributed significantly to the development of a professional NCO corps and a combat ready Army. Members demonstrate superb leadership characterized by personal concern for the needs, training, and development of their Soldier, as well as concern for their Army families.

All SMDC active and reserve component Soldiers in the ranks of corporal through master sergeant are eligible to compete for membership in the SMDC SAMC.

Upon selection and induction, members will receive a certificate and a medallion. They may be recommended for an award by their chain-of-command.

Other-MACOM Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and Sergeant Morales Club members in good standing will be extended honorary membership. They will receive an honorary membership certificate.

SMDC SAMC is governed by SMDC Regulation 215-7, dated 2 April 2004.

Outstanding Soldiers should be recommended to their Command Sergeants Major to learn more about this organization.
