As Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines in Afghanistan sit down to watch the Baltimore Ravens take on the San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl Sunday, they’ll enjoy a variety of American-style appetizers and finger foods thanks to Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support.

DLA Troop Support Subsistence personnel ensured delivery of about 49,000 pounds of chicken wings, 46,000 pounds of frozen pizza, 11,000 pounds of mozzarella sticks and 2,200 gallons of chili to warfighters in Afghanistan.

Additional fare includes jalapeno poppers, chicken mini bites, turkey wings, french fries, onion rings and meatballs. DLA Troop Support will also provide more than 9,800 cases of non-alcoholic beer to wash it all down.

“DLA plans well in advance to provide these favorite and tasty finger foods for the Super Bowl, ensuring that more than 200 locations throughout Afghanistan were adequately stocked on time for February,” said Anthony Amendolia, Europe and Middle East region chief for subsistence customer operations.

One of five DLA Troop Support supply chains, subsistence ensures that service members and other Defense Department customers around the world have high-quality, nutritious meals daily. Subsistence also provides all the staples for holiday meals such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Passover.
