Sajeel Ahmed

Sajeel Ahmed serves as the acting Deputy Director for Washington Headquarters Services, Director of the Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), and acting Director for Enterprise Management. As part of the Senior Executive Service (SES), he provides executive leadership for facility services, operations, space management, and construction. As Director, FSD, Mr. Ahmed leads over 1,000 combined government and contract personnel who provide support to 64,000-plus DoD personnel in the National Capital Region (NCR), manages approximately 16 million square feet of lease space, and oversees the operation, maintenance and construction activities on the Pentagon Reservation.

Mr. Ahmed's responsibilities also include the management of the Pentagon Renovation Construction and Program Office (PENREN) and the Base Closure Realignment Commission (BRAC) 133 Mark Center program.

In 2004, Mr. Ahmed accepted an appointment to the Senior Executive Service and became the Deputy Director for IT, PENREN, providing leadership oversight to the expanded scope of the program's IT responsibilities.

Immediately following the 2001 terrorist attack on the Pentagon, Mr. Ahmed provided leadership to the engineering efforts which developed into two major programs to enhance the Pentagon's survivability and continuity postures: the Command Communications Survivability Program and the Defense Continuity Integrated Network/Pentagon Continuity Information System.

In 1993, Mr. Ahmed joined PENREN as a system engineer, responsible for the modernization of the Pentagon Enterprise IT infrastructure. After six years of increasing responsibility he became the USAISEC - Pentagon Director of Engineering and PENREN Technical Director. He was tasked with managing and integrating all PENREN IT engineering projects.

In 1989, Mr. Ahmed graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Later, he joined the US Army Information Systems Engineering Command (USAISEC) as an engineering intern at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. He contributed to improving many key DoD communications capabilities, such as the Defense Message System (DMS) and consolidation of the Pentagon's many e-mail systems.

Mr. Ahmed's honors include: Certificate of Achievement for Acquisition Excellence, Program Management and Contracting Defense Acquisition Executive (2003), Secretary of Defense Letter of Appreciation (2002), David Packard Excellence in Acquisition Award (2002), US Army Superior Civilian Service Award (1999, 2001), and numerous performance awards (1993-2004).
