Goals of the Symposium
  • To identify gaps in knowledge in the:
    • evidence for the available preventive strategies and frequency of their use in the clinical setting
    • evidence for the evaluation and treatment of patients with urolithiasis in the acute and chronic setting
    • pathogenesis of crystal/stone formation at the cellular level
  • To develop recommendations for NIDDK for important areas of future urolithiasis research
  • To attract new investigators to the field of nephrolithiasis with the hope that innovative thinkers and approaches will lead to fundamental and clinically important discoveries, ultimately leading to a reduction in the burden of disease.
