Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program

Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency                                     How to Apply for PGY-1 Residency Position

Womack Army Medical Center, Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program utilize the Central Application Service for Podiatric Residencies (CASPR), which is a national centralized application process and computerized matching service.

The Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program director will electronically obtain from CASPR each application, including photo, personal statement, curriculum vitae, clinical evaluations, three (3) letters of recommendation, medical college transcripts and NBPME Part I and Part II scores.

The Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program director selects applicants to interview. Electronic invitations are then forwarded to the selected applicants through CASPR.

After the interview process has been completed, the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program and the applicants rank their selections in priority order, as instructed by CASPR. Both program and applicant rankings go through a computerized program that tries to match the program with a ranked applicant. The match results are then released to both the program and the applicants on the second Monday in March.

It is highly encouraged that each residency applicant who has not completed a clerkship/externship experience with the podiatric medicine and surgery residency program make an effort to schedule a visit either prior to the interview process or the ranking deadline, to be given an opportunity to meet the program director and current residents.

Additional information can be found on the CASPR CRIP web page.
