Titan Continuous-Feed 3900 Printer to Be Retired as of August 22, 2010
Due to rising maintenance costs and energy consumption, CIT will retire the Titan fan-fold, continuous feed 3900 printer as of August 22, 2010.
The vast majority of our customers opted for alternatives to the 3900 continuous-form printers in November 2009, when we switched the Titan default printing option to the more energy-efficient cut-sheet printers (see also the Titan News article from September 29, 2009). CIT staff has since worked closely with the handful of customers who relied on the continuous-form printers to find viable alternatives.
By retiring the 3900 continuous-form printers, which require large amounts of power, frequent repairs, and costly special equipment, the Data Center will save on power, paper, toner, and maintenance costs (see also "Going Green by Increasing Printing Efficiency," Interface issue 243).
