Weight-control Information Network (WIN):

The Weight-control Information Network (WIN) is a national information service of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) of the NIH. WIN produces and provides science-based information on obesity, weight control, physical activity, and nutrition.

The Obesity Education Initiative (OEI) of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), NIH, was created to help reduce the prevalence of overweight along with the prevalence of physical inactivity in order to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD), the prevalence and severity of sleep apnea, and overall morbidity and mortality from CHD. Information is provided on the relationship of overweight to CHD risk factors and sleep apnea, as well as information on weight loss and weight control.

Aim for a Healthy Weight provides practical tools for weight management, including an interactive menu planner and portion distortion quiz, body mass index calculator, healthy recipes, tips for dining out, and a physical activity guide.

We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children's Activity & Nutrition):

We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children's Activity & Nutrition) is a national program designed as a one-stop resource for parents and caregivers interested in practical tools to help children 8-13 years old stay at a healthy weight. Tips and fun activities focus on three critical behaviors: improved food choices, increased physical activity, and reduced screen time.

The program is a collaboration of four Institutes of the National Institutes of Health (NIH): the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), and the National Cancer Institute (NCI).

Media-Smart Youth: Eat, Think, and Be Active:

www.nichd.nih.gov/msy/ Media-Smart Youth: Eat, Think, and Be Active! is an interactive after-school education program for young people ages 11 to 13. It is designed to help teach them about the complex media world around them, and how it can affect their health -- especially in the areas of nutrition and physical activity. This program was created by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
