Pathways Programs

Whether you are a student, a recent graduate, or hold an advanced degree, GSA offers employment opportunities under the Federal Government’s Pathways Programs.  GSA’s Intern, Recent Graduates and Presidential Management Fellows programs offer invaluable, career-defining and preparation experiences. These programs range from paid summer internships to career development programs that may lead to a permanent job.

 Internships, On-the-Job Experience and Fellowships

The Intern Program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. Students who successfully complete the program may be eligible for a permanent job in the civil service.

The Recent Graduates Program provides developmental work experience with the intent of promoting careers in the Federal Government to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs.  Interested individuals must apply within two years of completing degree or certificate requirements.  Veterans who were not able to meet the 2-year time frame due to military service will have up to six years after degree completion to apply.  The Recent Graduates program offers the potential for a permanent position upon completion of the 1-year developmental program.

The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program is designed to develop a cadre of potential Federal Government leaders.  It offers exceptional students the opportunity to apply for a career in public service. At the end of the fellowship, you have invaluable and prestigious experience - and potential for a permanent position at GSA. Individuals who have a qualifying advanced degree (e.g., masters or professional degree) completed within the past two years are eligible to apply for entry-level positions in the PMF.
