CR420 - CRIS Prescriber Training

Description:

    CRIS-Sunrise (also known as Sunrise Clinical Manager or SCM) is the Clinical Research Information System used by the NIH Clinical Center and Institute staff for entering orders, viewing results, and documenting patient care. This course is specifically designed for credentialed NIH Physicians and other prescribers to offer hands-on instruction on how to use the CRIS for viewing patient information, as well as entering and viewing orders and clinical documentation (eg. Progress Notes).

    NOTE:

    Prescribers that will not be entering orders should attend the Introduction to CRIS session instead of this class. Prescribers credentialed as an LIP through the Office of Credentialing Services will be eligible to complete CRIS training online and do not need to register for this live session/class. Before taking this class, students may choose to complete & review the appropriate Introduction to CRIS module.

Objectives:

  • Access CRIS & navigate its screens
  • Locate a single patient or group of patients using various identifiers
  • View orders & select clinical documentation, including use of filters
  • Identify two methods to locate orders &order sets
  • Enter select departmental orders
  • Locate & enter order sets
  • Identify actions that can be performed on existing orders
  • Discuss the differences between free-text notes & structured notes
  • Locate & enter data in free-text notes & structure notes
  • Take various actions on existing clinical documentation notes, such as editing, cancelling, & appending
  • Identify various methods for reviewing existing clinical documentation
  • Identify how to access, view and print reports
  • Explain the role of CRIS in supporting clinical research & patient care
  • Navigate various CRIS features & functionalities
  • Identify how CRIS will improve clinical workflow & management of patient care
  • Utilize CRIS according to their role description & security access
