Figure 6 is titled "Past Month Tobacco, Marijuana, and Any Illicit Drug Use among U.S. Residents Aged 18 or Older Who Are Either U.S.-Born Persons or Foreign-Born Persons from Selected Latin American Countries." It is a bar graph, with the following note below the graph: "Source: SAMHSA, Office of Applied Studies, National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 1999–2001." The horizontal axis represents the country of birth, and the vertical axis represents the percentage using in the past month. There are seven categories of country of birth: United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, El Salvador, Jamaica, and Colombia. Within each country of birth category, the bar is separated into three sections corresponding to the types of substance use: Past Month Tobacco Use, Past Month Marijuana Use, and Past Month Any Illicit Drug Use.

Among persons born in the United States, 32.8% were past month tobacco users, 5.1% were past month marijuana users, and 6.6% were past month any illicit drug users.

Among persons born in Mexico, 20.8% were past month tobacco users, 0.9% were past month marijuana users, and 2.2% were past month any illicit drug users.

Among persons born in Puerto Rico, 31.0% were past month tobacco users, 2.0% were past month marijuana users, and 7.7% were past month any illicit drug users.

Among persons born in Cuba, 17.6% were past month tobacco users, 0.2% were past month marijuana users, and 0.5% were past month any illicit drug users.

Among persons born in El Salvador, 17.6% were past month tobacco users, 1.4% were past month marijuana users, and 2.7% were past month any illicit drug users.

Among persons born in Jamaica, 12.1% were past month tobacco users, 5.5% were past month marijuana users, and 5.6% were past month any illicit drug users.

Among persons born in Colombia, 18.2% were past month tobacco users, 0.9% were past month marijuana users, and 2.1% were past month any illicit drug users.
