Mammalian Gene Collection (MGC)
Description
MGC is a trans-NIH Institute effort to generate a representativefull-length clone for all human and mouse genes, and a finite number ofrat genes, all of which are available to the research community. TheMGC project entails:
- Production of cDNA libraries
- Sequencing clones at their 5' ends
- Selection of potential full-length clones for full-length insert sequencing
- Development of analytical tools
- PCR-rescue of selected genes
- In-vitro synthesis of genes not obtained through the methods outlined above
