Download CHEMM to Your Computer

• Installs CHEMM on your Windows computer, and puts a CHEMM icon on your Desktop
• Installation issues: If the network security policies at your institution have restrictions that prevent installing applications like CHEMM, you can download the zip file, but you will need to follow all the instructions on this page for downloading the CHEMM.zip file and unpacking and configuring the CHEMM files

1. If this is the first time you are downloading CHEMM, create a new folder, "CHEMM", on your computer.
2. Click here to download the Zip file: CHEMM.zip (8.53 MB)
1. Click "Save" to save the Zip file in this CHEMM folder you have just created.
2. For Windows or Mac, use WinZip to unzip the CHEMM.zip file (e.g., CHEMM.zip) into this CHEMM folder.
   1. In the CHEMM folder, you will find the Zip file you just downloaded.
      
   2. If you have WinZip on your computer, right mouse click on the file, and select WinZip. Next, select "Extract to here."
      
   3. You can also use the Extract Wizard on Windows XP computers. Right mouse click on the file, and select "Extract All..."
      
      The Extraction Wizard prompts for a folder to extract file to. Enter or Browse to the CHEMM folder you have just created.
   4. If there is a previous download, replace the old files with the new files. Click "Yes To All" when you are prompted to "Confirm File Replace".
   5. After the files are extracted, you should see these two files in the CHEMM folder.
      Double click on the "CHEMM" folder.
3. Double click on "index.html" to start at the CHEMM home page.
4. To create a shortcut to CHEMM Home Page on your Desktop:
   1. Right mouse click on the "index.html", and select "Create Shortcut".
   2. Locate the new file, "Shortcut to index.html", at the bottom of the file list. Right mouse click and select "Rename".
   3. Rename the file to "CHEMM Home Page"
   4. Right mouse click on this file. Select "Send To". Then select "Desktop (create shortcut)".
3. For Unix/Linux systems, use the following command line:
   unzip CHEMM.zip.
4. If you have anti-virus software installed on your computer, the Javascript programs running on some CHEMM pages will be blocked. The warning message may say, "To help proect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options...", or "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options..."
   You can unblock by clicking on the warning message, and select "Allow Blocked Content..."
