Civil Rights

On behalf of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Office of Small Business and Civil Rights (SBCR) administers two programs related to the application of various Federal civil rights laws and regulations:

  • Civil Rights Program: administers and ensures agency compliance with the Federal civil rights laws, regulations, policies, and guidance that prohibit discrimination in the workplace based on race, color, national origin, religion (including reasonable accommodation for religious practice), gender (including gender-based wage discrimination or harassment), age (40 and over), mental or physical disability (including reasonable accommodation), sexual orientation, and genetic information.
  • Outreach and Compliance Coordination Program: administers equal opportunity and fair practice programs to ensure compliance with Federal civil rights statutes, regulations, policies, and guidance that prohibit discrimination in programs and activities conducted by the NRC and recipients of NRC Federal financial assistance. The OCCP also administers a Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) Program and an MSI Grants Program. For a detailed description, see Outreach and Compliance Coordination Program (OCCP).
