The Omidyar Network, The Rockefeller Foundation, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced a collaboration to promote impact investing by supporting research, outreach, and other field-building activities undertaken by the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN). Together the partners have committed $6.5 million to support the GIIN’s work to increase the accessibility of impact investing.

Day two of the 2012 Global Diaspora Forum brought to a close this historic, second annual celebration of U.S. diaspora communities.  As Administrator Shah saw first-hand growing up in the example modeled by his father, diasporas often act as “mini-development agencies” by extending financial support, connections, information, and other resources to family members in their countries of origin.

USAID and the U.S. Department of State will hold the second annual Global Diaspora Forum on July 25-26. The second day of the Forum, hosted by USAID, will bring together over 500 U.S.-based diaspora leaders to focus on public-private partnerships and identify new opportunities for engagement with the U.S. Government.

Administrator Shah will deliver keynote remarks on Thursday, July 26th and announce new initiatives building on the U.S. government’s efforts to partner with diaspora community groups.
