Funding Available For 58 Mental Health Data Infrastructure Grants for Quality Improvement

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is soliciting applications for the FY 2007 funds for the Mental Health Data Infrastructure Grant for Quality Improvement (State DIG). The program will implement and strengthen the annual collection of the Uniform Reporting System (URS) measures, which include the National Outcome Measures (NOMs), and fund State Mental Health authorities to improve State and local data infrastructure for reporting and planning. This project also supports the Center for Mental Health Services Mental Health Block Grant program.

It is expected that approximately $7.56 million will be available to fund up to 58 awards for up to three years. The actual amounts may vary, depending on the availability of these funds. The grants will be awarded by SAMHSA's Center for Mental Health Services.

WHO CAN APPLY: Eligible applicants are State Mental Health authorities in the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Territories that have received the Mental Health Block Grant.

HOW TO APPLY: Applications for SM-07-012 are available by calling SAMHSA's Clearinghouse at 1-877-SAMHSA7 or by downloading from http://www.samhsa.gov/grants/index.aspx or www.grants.gov. Applicants are encouraged to apply online using www.grants.gov.

APPLICATION DUE DATE: Applications must be received by May 3, 2007.

This program is being announced prior to the FY 2007 appropriation for SAMHSA's programs, with funding estimates based on the President's budget request for FY 2007. Applications are invited based on the assumption that sufficient funds will be appropriated for FY 2007 to permit funding of a reasonable number of applications solicited. All applicants are reminded however, that we cannot guarantee that sufficient funds will be appropriated to permit SAMHSA to fund any applications.
