mHealth (mobile Health)

The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Program, in the Office of the Director at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has spearheaded the coordination of NIH’s effort in organizing the 2010 mHealth Summit, as well as co-chairing the inaugural mHealth Summit held in 2009.

The 2010 mHealth Summit is sponsored by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH), with co-sponsors including NIH, the mHealth Alliance, and others, with a goal of engaging the stakeholders in the mHealth ecosystem in a research and data-driven approach toward advancing the field.

The NIH PPP Program has also organized the NIH mHealth Inter-Institute Interest Group. The aims of the NIH mHealth Inter-Institute Interest Group are to:

The NIH mHealth Inter-Institute Interest Group meets monthly and is open to all NIH staff. Topics addressed in meetings of the Interest Group included the view from other regulatory and programmatic Federal agencies and the use/applications of mHealth approaches to public health problems such as smoking cessation and health disparities.
