LS603 - Keeping Up with Public Health: Evidence-Based Resources in Public Health

Description:

    Public health decision making, policy development and the establishment of new programs to improve public health should be supported by scientific evidence. This class will introduce students who are involved in public health initiatives to the concept of evidence based public health, will explore selected resources that provide evidence based information and present techniques for searching and finding research to support best evidence in the field of public health.

Objectives:

    By the end of this class, the student will be able to:
  • Define evidence based public health
  • Be familiar with key concepts in public health
  • Apply key concepts to searching and evaluating the public health literature
  • Identify resources that support best evidence research and practice
