Colorado River Basin Water Supply and Demand Study
Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar has announced the release of a study – authorized by Congress and jointly funded and prepared by the
Bureau of Reclamation and the seven Colorado River Basin states – that projects water supply and demand imbalances throughout the Colorado
River Basin and adjacent areas over the next 50 years.

shared science to ensure the sustainability of America's land, water, wildlife and cultural resources.
Water Efficiency
Water is one of our most precious natural resources, and although the United States has an abundant supply, it is not evenly distributed
throughout the country. Recent droughts illustrate that many areas are severely undersupplied. Federal facilities have a tremendous
opportunity to lead by example within their communities to showcase innovative and cost-effective water efficiency strategies.
WaterSMART Three-Year Progress Report
The Department of the Interior's WaterSMART program is saving water, finding better ways to stretch existing supplies and helping partners
plan to meet future water demands, according to a three-year progress report on the program released today. The program was launched by Secretary
of the Interior Ken Salazar in 2010.

The WaterSMART Challenge
The Secretary of the Department of the Interior, Ken Salazar, has set a goal for the WaterSMART Initiative to enable
capability to increase available water supply for agricultural, municipal, industrial, and environmental uses in the Western
United States by 490,000 acre feet by the end of 2012 through Reclamation’s conservation related programs, such as the
