The NASA Collection

Image: Nasa BookmarksJuly 2011 marked several significant milestones for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Not only does NASA celebrate its 53rd anniversary, but it has also launched the final space shuttle mission after three extraordinary decades.

President Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act on July 29, 1958, creating NASA to direct U.S. space policy. Since then, NASA has led U.S. efforts for space exploration, which includes the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs, as well as the International Space Station.

In honor of NASA’s anniversary and in celebration of the significant achievements of America’s Space Shuttle program, the United States Government Printing Office has assembled this collection of consumer and scientific publications for sale about NASA, its pioneers, contributions, and America’s rich history of space exploration.

And introducing a gift set of 5 new Space Shuttle color bookmarks, one for each of the shuttles. (See image above.)
