The Tri-Valley Science and Engineering Fair (TVSEF), sponsored by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, was founded in 1996. The Fair is a means for stimulating interest in science and technology among middle and high school students from public, private, and parochial schools within the Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Sunol school districts. The philosophy behind the Fair is that students learn science by doing science. The Fair provides a forum for students to present their scientific work and interact with scientists in their field to receive feedback on their efforts.
