Fellowships and Positions – CCR Office of Training and Education

Mission: To have an impact on the overall training experience of basic scientists and clinical fellows in cancer research. This will be achieved by:

• Assisting CCR investigators recruit outstanding postdoctoral candidates for fellowships.
• Facilitating and promoting training opportunities for fellows using NCI, NIH, and academic courses.
• Planning and implementing new courses and training programs to prepare fellows to be successful independent biomedical researchers.
• Providing opportunities for mentors and expanding collaborative interactions.
• Providing funding mechanisms to reward outstanding research efforts by postdoctoral fellows.
• Implementing funding mechanisms, such as the Career Development Awards (K99/R00), to facilitate fellows’ competitiveness as candidates for academic faculty positions.
• Assisting trainees as they make the transition into academic positions and offering exposure to alternative career paths.
• Assisting investigators with mentoring issues.
• Facilitating the development of training programs for fellows with an interest in administrative career pathways
