POSITION SUMMARY

The incumbent serves as an Inspector in the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) responsible for planning and conducting systemic and compliance inspections, assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of business process practices and outcomes. As a team member, incumbent conducts complex and technical inspections throughout the Agency.




ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION

- Participates in the planning and coordinating of inspection activities including identification, selection, and assignment of functional and special subjects. Conducts analytical studies that are broad in scope with frequently undefined limits, to evaluate effectiveness of current programs and development of planning efforts. Develops inspection proposals and coordinates work with Agency management during the course of inspections. - Ensures management is aware of policies and procedures to be used during the inspection. Inspects, examines, and evaluates applicable programs and functions to: assess compliance with laws and regulations, promote efficiency and economy of operations, and to detect systemic weaknesses, deficiencies, irregularities, and improprieties. Analyzes situations to determine root causes of each problem; determines necessary corrective action; and identifies the level of authority, responsibility, and resources required to correct each problem. - Prepares clear, concise, accurate, unbiased reports and draws conclusions, which are supported by technically or legally substantiated evidence. Submits draft inspection findings to team lead for inclusion in a comprehensive inspection report or prepares the inspection report when performing duties as the team lead. Upon completion of the inspection, prepares, presents, or participates in the briefing on the results. - Refers cases involving any fraud, waste, abuse, malfeasance or misfeasance, collusion or violations of law to the appropriate officials immediately. - Serves as a representative on working groups to plan and develop internal strategies. Participants in briefings and meetings to provide advice and assistance to resolve problems. - Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:
You must possess 1 year of specialized experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower qualifying band or equivalent GS/GG level, which is directly related to the position being filled. Your experience must demonstrate possession of the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position.
