Greening the government and the nation are avenues for all of us to pursue. Reuse of federal property helps this endeavor by keeping property out of the waste stream. From utilization transfers amongst federal agencies or donation through state agencies for surplus property to transfer to schools through Computers for Learning; and even sales further reuse of property no longer required by the government...bottom line is, all aspects of the federal disposal process focus on reuse and, REUSE IS RECYCLING. This overview of the federal disposal programs will address how each step strives to find reuse of government assets and keep the items from entering the waste stream; keeping these items out of landfills. This will include an overview of the systems supporting the federal disposal process: GSAXcess, Computers for Learning, and GSA Auctions. Also, the statutory and regulatory authorities will provide the background for this presentation.
