4-H Events

For more than a hundred years, 4-H has been dedicated to creating opportunities for youth that broaden skills and aspirations while nurturing the full potential of youth. Many of these opportunities come in the form of 4-H events. 4-H events, viewed as activities of positive youth development programming, are framed as intentional learning experiences. Events must have an educational component, regardless of whether they are competitive or non-competitive.

Reference Materials

• 4-H Events Checklist: All 4-H events should meet standards of program quality and accountability, be tied to the land-grant universities, incorporate current research and technology, and have a risk management plan. This checklist is a reference guide to ensure that those standards have been met.
• 4-H Events Cover Letter: All 4-H events seeking “National 4-H” designation must include a cover letter that includes the signatures of both the State 4-H Program Leaders and the Extension Director from the land-grant university that is serving as the event host.
• 4-H Events Submission Portal: This site is the entry point for submitting multi-state 4-H events (including requests to receive National 4-H designation) into the 4-H Events Calendar managed by 4-H National Headquarters.
• 4-H Events Calendar: This site lists all multi-state and national 4-H events which have been recognized by 4-H National Headquarters.
