Office of Biotechnology Activities    National Institutes of Health - Office of Science Policy   Directions to OBA TAKING THE METRO     GROSVENOR STATION (closest to Rockledge Center)     Take Metro's RED LINE train in the direction of Grosvenor or Shady Grove. Exit the train at the GROSVENOR-Strathmore Station. From this Metrorail station, it is necessary to take a taxi to our offices. It may be helpful to tell the taxi driver that Rockledge Drive intersects with either Rock Spring Drive (off Old Georgetown Road), Democracy Boulevard (near Walter Johnson High School), or Fernwood Road (near Montgomery Mall).     MEDICAL CENTER STATION   Take Metro's RED LINE train in the direction of Grosvenor or Shady Grove. Exit the train at the MEDICAL CENTER Station. The escalators leaving the station exit to the bus depot on the NIH campus. From the top of the escalator, walk straight ahead and slightly downhill to the very last bus stop, which is the stop for the NIH Shuttle buses***. Board the free shuttle bus marked "ROCKLEDGE." This bus leaves the MEDICAL CENTER metro station every 25 minutes, between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:50 pm, and will bring you to Two Rockledge Center (6701 Rockledge Drive). OBA offices are in One Rockledge Center, which is the building across the driveway.     More information on using the Metrorail and public transportation in the Washington, DC metropolitan area is available at http://www.metroopensdoors.com     Note:  The NIH shuttle schedule (subject to change) is posted on the NIH web site: http://www.nih.gov/od/ors/shuttle/shutrock.htm     DRIVING DIRECTIONS     FROM BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL (BWI) AIRPORT/BALTIMORE, MARYLAND AND POINTS NORTH 45-60 minutes; 36 miles     Proceed SOUTH on I-95 or the Baltimore-Washington Parkway to I-495 WEST (Capital Beltway/Outerloop) toward Silver Spring/Bethesda, Maryland. Merge Right from I-495 onto I-270 NORTH toward Frederick (exit 35). Take the second exit (exit 1B) for ROCKLEDGE DRIVE. Merge into the middle lane for a left turn at the light. At the light, turn Left onto ROCKLEDGE BLVD. On Rockledge Blvd, merge into the right lane to take the first Right onto Rockledge Drive. On Rockledge Drive, the first two office buildings on the right are Rockledge Center. Turn Right into the second driveway; this is the main entrance.     FROM DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 30-45 minutes; 22 miles     Take the DULLES AIRPORT ACCESS ROAD-EAST for about 13 miles. Exit onto I-495 NORTH/WEST (Capital Beltway/Innerloop) toward Maryland. (You will cross the Potomac River on the American Legion Bridge.) Merge Left onto I-270 NORTH toward Frederick, Maryland. Take the first exit to DEMOCRACY BOULEVARD-EAST. Turn Left at the third traffic light onto ROCKLEDGE DRIVE. Continue across ROCK SPRING DRIVE. At the second stoplight (you will see a new apartment complex on your right), turn Left to continue on ROCKLEDGE DRIVE. The first two office buildings on the right are Rockledge Center. Turn Right into the second driveway; this is the main entrance.     FROM RONALD REGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT 35-45 minutes; 18 miles     Take the BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON PARKWAY-WEST to I-495 NORTH/WEST (Capital Beltway/Innerloop) toward Maryland. (You will cross the Potomac River on the American Legion Bridge.) Merge Left onto I-270 NORTH toward Frederick, Maryland. Take the first exit to DEMOCRACY BOULEVARD-EAST. Turn Left at the third traffic light onto ROCKLEDGE DRIVE. Continue across ROCK SPRING DRIVE. At the second stoplight (you will see a new apartment complex under construction on your right), turn Left to continue on ROCKLEDGE DRIVE. Turn Right into the second driveway; this is the main entrance.     FROM FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA AND POINTS SOUTH     Take I-95 NORTH to I-495 NORTH/WEST (Capital Beltway/Innerloop) toward Maryland. (You will cross the Potomac River on the American Legion Bridge.) Merge Left onto I-270 NORTH toward Frederick. Take the first exit to DEMOCRACY BOULEVARD-EAST. (You will cross the Potomac River on the American Legion Bridge.) Merge Left to exit for I-270 NORTH toward Frederick. Take the first exit to DEMOCRACY BOULEVARD-EAST. Turn Left at the third traffic light onto ROCKLEDGE DRIVE. Continue across Rock Spring Drive. At the second stoplight (you will see a new apartment complex under construction on your right), turn Left to continue on Rockledge Drive. The first two office buildings on the right are Rockledge Center. Turn Right into the second driveway; this is the main entrance.     FROM FREDERICK, MARYLAND AND POINTS NORTHWEST     Take I-270 SOUTH. Merge Left to continue on I-270 towards I-495 EAST/SILVER SPRING. Take the exit for OLD GEORGETOWN ROAD/ROCKLEDGE DRIVE. At the stoplight at the top of the ramp, turn Right onto ROCKLEDGE BOULEVARD. (You will see a new apartment complex) Stay in the right lane; go about one block and merge Right onto ROCKLEDGE DRIVE. The first two office buildings on the right are Rockledge Center. Turn Right into the second driveway; this is the main entrance.     FROM EASTERN AND SOUTHERN MARYLAND AND POINTS SOUTHEAST     Take I-95 NORTH toward Baltimore to I-495 WEST (Capital Beltway/Outerloop) toward Silver Spring/Bethesda, Maryland. Merge Right onto I-270 NORTH toward Frederick (exit 35). Take the second exit (exit 1B) for ROCKLEDGE DRIVE. Merge into the middle lane for a left turn at the light.
