Art Faulkner was appointed on January 18, 2011, by Governor Robert Bentley to serve as the director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency.

In 1996, Director Faulkner began his tenure with the Alabama Emergency Management Agency as the state 9-1-1 Coordinator. In 2003, Director Faulkner had the privilege to assist in the establishment of the Alabama Department of Homeland Security after its creation by the Alabama Legislature. In 2010 then Governor Bob Riley appointed Faulkner as the Director of the Alabama Department of Homeland Security.

Director Faulkner and his wife Shana, reside in Elmore, Alabama were he is active in various community activities and is very active in his Church.
