Getting Started with OPTIONS

Read Online (PDF - 780 KB)

The Options intervention was designed to help People Living with HIV/AIDS engage in safer sexual and drug use behavior and maintain such behaviors over time in order to maximize their own health and the health of their partners. The intervention builds on the supportive relationship and trust that typically develops between healthcare providers and their HIV+ patients, and it provides a framework that providers can use to initiate and maintain brief discussions about HIV risk reduction (e.g., condom use, clean needle use) with their patients on an ongoing basis.
