CID HQThe U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command is responsible for investigating felony crime of Army interest. The headquarters is located at Quantico, Virginia.

The Army established CID as a major command on September 17, 1971. The acronym CID retains the "D" as a historical reminder of the first Criminal Investigation Division formed in 1918 by General John J. Pershing during World War I.

This worldwide command is comprised of approximately 2,000 Soldiers and civilians and is organized into six subordinate organizations.
