Annual Conference 2013

Annual Conference 2013

Conference registration is FULL for the 10th Annual ALR Conference.

The 2013 annual conference will be held February 26 - 28, 2013 at the Paradise Point Hotel in San Diego, CA. Our annual conference provides a forum for investigators to share findings and to learn about the latest thinking, methods, and research on policy and environmental issues related to active living. The conference also provides an opportunity for advocates, practitioners, policy-makers and others to gain information and connections that can advance their work in promoting physical activity and preventing obesity.

Conference Theme

The theme of the 2013 conference, Achieving Change Across Sectors: Integrating Research, Policy and Practice, recognizes the importance of engaging people from multiple disciplines and occupations to increase physical activity for everyone and reverse the obesity epidemic.

Collaboration is essential to achieve lasting changes to the environment and the creation of policies that will make it easier for people to be physically active during their daily routines. Such partnerships involve community members, researchers from multiple disciplines and sectors as well as key input from policy-makers and practitioners. These rich partnerships can help to ensure that the best available evidence is used when creating or maintaining active and vibrant communities that can benefit everyone.

For the first time, the conference agenda will be organized into two tracks – research and practice. The goal of developing two tracks is to encourage a broader audience to attend the conference and provide more opportunities for exchange on how to use evidence to increase physical activity in many different settings.
